A beautifully decorated living room in Guildford featuring a luxury Christmas tree, garlands, and festive lighting — ideal for showcasing Christmas decoration hire services.

Let’s be honest — few Christmas decisions divide people more than the tree. Some swear by the scent of a real fir. Others want something that doesn’t drop needles on the carpet. So when it comes to hiring a Christmas tree, which route is best?

As decorators, we work with both. And the answer really depends on what you need.

Natural trees have that unmistakable look and fragrance. They're imperfect in the best way, with charm and character. But for hire, it does cost a little more — especially if you want us to supply it. That’s because we don’t do bulk deliveries. We drive to Christmas tree farms, hand-select the best trees one by one, check them for shape, and bring them to you with care. It’s labour-intensive, but you can tell the difference when it stands dressed in your living room or lobby.

Artificial trees, on the other hand, have come a long way. The good ones — and we mean the really good ones — can look stunning. No mess, no drying out, no last-minute needle trail. And they allow for a very symmetrical, styled finish.

If you’re booking a professional Christmas decorator, either option can look incredible. But here are a few things to consider:

  • Want to support sustainability? A high-end artificial tree reused year after year is a solid option.

  • Short on time or hosting multiple events? Artificial trees offer more flexibility.

  • Craving that authentic Christmas feel? Nothing beats a real tree — just allow a little more budget for the service.

And here’s a trend we’re seeing for 2025: more clients are choosing natural trees for personal or intimate spaces (like home receptions), and artificial trees for high-traffic areas (like offices, hotel lobbies, or venues).

In either case, our advice remains the same: book early. Quality trees — real or artificial — go fast.

And if you're not sure? Let your decorator guide you. A good one will consider your space, schedule, style, and budget to recommend the best tree for you — not just the one that’s left in stock.
